Isn't it amazing that the human ear has a natural sense for the last note of a song? When you hear that all too familiar note the pianist finally plays to signal the end of their song, you begin to clap. How did you know they wouldn't continue? It's the resting tone. Why can't a song end if you haven't heard the resting tone? Because your ears just won't allow you to accept anything else as a final note. This goes to show that music is born deep within all of us, so it is important to start paying attention.
